Module

Making Child Care More Affordable

Author: Anne Kim, Tess Stovall and Mark Donnell
In The Middle Class Program

Abstract

This module proposes doubling the child care tax credit to make child care more affordable for families struggling to juggle career and children.

Description

The cost of quality child care has skyrocketed, and many families pay more than the price of one year’s tuition at an in-state college tuition on child care costs. With more mothers working than ever before, child care is a necessity. By doubling the child care credit, middle-class families could receive a bigger tax break to cover the rising costs of child care. This module lays out the problem of rising child care costs, outlines how to respond and provides suggestions to roll out your plan to the public.
